Today Germanfest was kicked off with Die Heilige Messe at our church, St. Peter's, followed by Kostrizer, Bitburger, brats, warm German potato salad, cherry kuchen, and sauerkraut.
I look forward to the German Mass every year because the Mannerchor-Damenchor comes to sing, and everything is in German (except the Homily) which is so awesome to take in. It reminds me of being in Munich, but I loved it even before we went there. It's much better now, too, because I can understand a bit of it since I began taking German language lessons.
Get your dirndls and lederhosen ready...it's time for a week of German fun!
"Heilig" by Franz Schubert - this is what we heard at Mass today. Beautiful, isn't it?
