Red Hollywood Bombshells

I've had my fair share of haircolor identity crises. Bleach blond, the darkest brown, skunky highlights...you name it, I've been through it. What was I thinking this time??? Pink highlights...that's pretty crazy.

Ha ha! Just kidding...they're really just clip in hair extensions that I got at Sally's Beauty Supply for $3 a piece! I really do want a streak of pink hair though underneath my hair so that when I pull it up in a ponytail, you can see the pink streak. I also want to get my nose pierced, but you just can't have that stuff at work.

I have actually been going through this red phase over the past year, which is a new color for me. Most days I don't think about it because it doesn't look red to me. But if I get in the right light, you can really notice it and that's when people usually say to me, "Did you do something different with your hair?" And I say, Yup, but it's been this color for awhile. And most people seem to like it okay. We'll see what the next haircolor holds in store for me.

I didn't used to like red hair. But I absolutely love it now. I think that redhead actresses are just stunning. So here are a few of them. Doesn't mean I think they're good people...in fact, they're actresses so most of them are pretty immoral. But here they are anyway.

Romy

I have been obsessed with the "Sissi" trilogy, a loose biography of Empress Elisabeth "Sissi" of Austria. It is such a lovely movie and makes her life seem idyllic even though it was actually a bit tragic. Romy Schneider was absolutely stunning in this movie, making the viewer fall in love with Sissi, just as everyone in the movie does. And it's partially about Bavaria, which is my favorite place on this earth. When I think of Heaven, I think mine (God willing I get there) will have the mountains and woods and lakes of Bavaria.

Aren't you always a bit disappointed when you become interested in a topic, do a little research, and then don't like what you find? I thought Romy Schneider would be much like her "Sissi" character: sweet, loveable, strong, smart, and someone who thrives in the outdoors.

Romy Schneider, unfortunately, was nothing like her character. I had a difficult time finding photos of her with clothes on. She was defiant, scandalous, and someone who makes very poor decisions with her life.

I am crazy about these photos, though.

Oh so Bitter:Sweet

Having a little trouble coming up with a blog post. In the meantime, enjoy some Bitter:Sweet, because...well...they're just fabulous. And because this little montage is all about Holly Golightly, who is the most fabulous make-believe woman I know of (and in my opinion, Audrey's best role).

This is immensely better

and one of the first songs I'd like to learn on the guitar, in tribute to the grandpa I never met, and to my mom.

I'll say it now, and you'll hear it again. Audrey Hepburn was absolutely iconic. She made me believe that all gorgeous women have tiny, fluffy dogs; that one should always leave the house wearing very clean, crisp clothing and lovely, beehived hair; that the best dresses come in black; that a woman should always be ladylike but strong; that children are tiny little blessings. Of course, she also made me believe that someday when I grew up I would be 5'7" and 100 pounds...instead I am 5 foot even and a bit on the stubby stout side.
