Home again, home again, jiggity jig

We had a wonderful time in Indianapolis this weekend. Sometimes it's just nice to leave home for a few days, even if you aren't very far away.

Our hotel was right on the circle, and we had a lovely view of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument from our room. We passed by it in our travels several times.

We of course went shopping.

Then made our way...
to The Rathskeller for lunch, which was absolutely wonderful for the food, atmosphere, and beer. The name reminds me of the first place we went to in Munich, Ratskeller, which was also wonderful. The building that houses The Rathskeller is absolutely gorgeous and quirky and historic. And they served my beloved brotchen and pretzels, so that was really the important thing.
Then back to the hotel for a nap. But we saw this on the way...
and when we woke up, we shopped a bit and walked...
to Buca di Beppo to try our hand at Italian food.
It was amazing...the most delicious Italian food I've ever eaten!

To end the night, we finished with The Slippery Noodle Inn, which has amazing blues music and has been visited by a myriad of celebrities. The Brady and Dillinger gangs used to hang out back there for target practice, and it's the oldest bar in Indiana. They make killer martinis for a good price, too. It was packed, but definitely a good choice for the evening.

Have no fear....I will post Sunday's photos tomorrow!

When I worked downtown I ate lunch at the Slippery Noodle a lot. The basement is seriously haunted. There are really weird stories about the place. Scott likes Bucca more than me, but I think it is fine, just not my fave. I have not been to the Rathskellar in forever. I wonder if we could get Noah to eat German bread, 'cuz I know he won't eat the food! I am so glad you had fun!
